Aloha
Krista Ruchaber, a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbal Medicine Practitioner, has been working since 2006 and founded ‘Uhane Wellness. She cross pollinates her medical training with a passion for growing food and herbs to help others heal.
She applies a trifecta of knowledge that connects plant cultivation, culinary alchemy, Hawaiian traditions and Chinese medicine to heal the body and land.
The culmination of this is seen in her Food Forest, a backyard paradise, “yarden” in Kaua’i, incorporating permaculture design, herbal medicine and Taoist nutrition. This aids her patients and community by merging the essential human gut biom and balancing it with soil microorganism health along with ancient and modern treatments for holistic wellness.

MASTER MENTORS
Dr. Chang Yi Hsiang
Krista trained with Master Hsiang, also known as Shihfu Lily Siou, at the World Medicine Institute in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Since 1970, Master Hsiang trained students in the Traditional Taoist healing arts, acupuncture, Chi Kung and herbal medicine. With a Ph.D. in Chinese philosophy and integrated medicine, she was apart of international medical research and served as Commissioner on Hawai’i’s Board of Acupuncture from 1974-1978.
Designated as a “Living Treasure” by the 12th State Legislature of Hawai’i, Master Hsiang was originally from Shang Ching, Jiangxi. At the age of six, she began her Taoist training with Master Chang En Pu at the Lung Hu Shan Monastery where she learned and mastered the Six Arts of the Chou Dynasty. After his passing in 1969, she became the 64th generational Heavenly Master, a Taoist lineage holder in a 2,000 year old tradition, descending from the Han dynasty. To this day, her wisdom and work are still held in high regard.
Kumu Kaua'i Iki
Krista and Kumu would holoholo in a flow state that embodied island style. This magical classroom evolved as Kumu shared stories of places and legends. Kumu educated her on the history of the overthrown Hawaiian Kingdom, cultural protocols, native plants and herbal medicines.
Their journeys often took them to visit ‘ohana (family) and haumana (students). Most days, Kumu made lei po’o to gift someone.
Kumu knew how to thrive in nature in a simplistic way to wala`au (converse) with all. There were no strangers, only new friends. Kumu taught her the mana’o of the Hawaiian culture that embodies the Aloha spirit.
Mahalo. Testimonials.
